Apple’s newest iOS app has arrived.
Clips is now available for download from the App Store. Clips is an app for your iPhone or iPad that’ll help you create social media-friendly videos and then share ‘em to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, and, of course, Apple’s own Messages app.
With Clips, you can capture photos or video or import any images or video you might already have in your Photo Library. You can then add filters, speech bubbles, emoji, and animated backgrounds. There’s music in there, too, with dozens of tunes available to give your video a soundtrack, as well as a Live Titles feature that’ll let you use your voice to add animated captions. Live Titles supports 36 languages.
The Clips app requires iOS 10.3 and is compatible with the iPhone 5s and up, all iPad Air and iPad Pro models, the new iPad, the iPad mini 2 and later, and the iPod touch 6th generation.
Apple isn’t aiming to create its own social network with Clips, which is probably good considering Apple’s history with things like Ping. Instead, the company wants to help you create videos to post to existing social networks in the hopes that you’ll eventually see Clips as an indispensable tool for sharing to your social networks.
