The Google Assistant has been one of the highlight features of Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL, and soon more people will get to enjoy Google’s digital helper.
Google Assistant is coming to more Android phones starting this week. The digital helper will automatically come to smartphones running Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Android 7.0 Nougat with Google Play Services, which should greatly expand the number of users that use Google Assistant.
The rollout of Google Assistant will begin in the US this week. It’ll then be available in English in Australia, Canada, and the UK, as well as to German speakers in Germany. More languages will be added over the coming year.
The expansion of Google Assistant is a big deal. Google’s Assistant can perform many different tasks for you, including translating words, giving you location info, sharing the weather report, and giving you directions, all in a conversation-style format. It’s great to see Google expanding the Assistant’s availability after it spent a few months as a Pixel exclusive, giving lots more people the chance to try Google’s new digital helper.
