Mobile World Congress is still a week or so away, but ZTE apparently couldn’t wait any longer to share with us what it’s got planned for the big show.
ZTE will unveil a new device called the ZTE Gigabit Phone at MWC 2017. This forward-looking smartphone will support 1Gbps download speeds, which are the speeds we’ve been told to expect from 5G wireless service. ZTE says that this will enable the Gigabit Phone to offer features like “360-degree panoramic VR video, instant cloud storage, entertainment upgrades and fast cache of ultra Hi-Fi music and movies.”
There aren’t any other features of the ZTE Gigabit Phone available right now.
We’ve been hearing a lot about 5G lately, with all four major US carriers putting in the work to transition to 5G wireless networks. While we’re likely still a ways off from seeing 1Gbps wireless speeds, it’s still good to see ZTE prepping for the future by working on a 1Gbps-capable smartphone right now.
