If you've been keeping a close eye on when Apple will be releasing its new iPads, you don't have to wait that long anymore. According to the rumor mill, Apple will be releasing a total of three new iPad models this year. This list includes a brand new 10.5-inch iPad and two refreshed models-- the 9.7-inch device and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. MacRumors, however, believes the latter model will be refreshed shortly.
The reason behind this speculation stems from Apple's website when it changed the shipping times for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro down to 2 to 3 weeks. This could be because Apple's inventory for the iPad Pro model is already drying up. If anything, this could indicate that Apple is gearing up to launch a new model, which could very well be the refreshed 12.9-inch iPad Pro unit. Both Best Buy and Verizon have limited stocks too.
According to reports, both the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and 10.5-inch iPad models will be equipped with a new A10X processor. Interestingly, the 10.5-inch model is said to have an edgeless display with minimal bezels. Perhaps, this is what the iPhone 8 will resemble. Meanwhile, Apple is rumored to be making the 9.7-inch model an affordable unit.
Based on their track record, Apple normally announces new iPad models during spring. As a matter of fact, while everyone else is busy with their Mobile World Congress (MWC) press conferences, Apple usually takes this time to announce its iPad event. If Apple wants to remain predictable, it could do the same this year.
