Today is a big day for Android Wear.
Google today officially took the wraps off of the LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style, its new Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches that were made in collaboration with LG. The LG Watch Sport is the larger and higher-end of the two watches, boasting a 1.38-inch POLED 480x480 display.
Inside the LG Watch Sport’s body is 4GB of storage, 768MB of RAM, and a Snapdragon 2100 processor. Google and LG have thrown in NFC for Android Pay as well as a heart rate monitor, GPS for tracking your workouts, and built-in 4G LTE connectivity that’ll enable it to work on AT&T and Verizon. There’s a 430mAh battery powering the whole package, and on the side of the watch there’s a rotating crown for navigating the Android Wear software as well as dedicated buttons for launching Android Pay and Google Fit.
And then there’s the LG Watch Style. This smaller watch runs Android Wear 2.0 on a 1.2-inch 360x360 POLED screen, and its got slightly less RAM (512MB) and a slightly smaller battery (240mAh). The Watch Style also lacks the NFC, GPS, and LTE support found on the Watch Style, meaning there’s no Android Pay here.
The LG Watch Style does include 4GB of built-in storage like its bigger LG Watch Sport sibling, as well as a Snapdragon 2100 processor. There’s also a rotating crown on the side of the watch, but there aren’t any dedicated buttons for launching apps like those found on the Watch Sport.
The LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style will both launch in the US on February 10. You’ll be able to get the Watch Sport from AT&T, Verizon, and the Google Store, with pricing set at $349.
If you decide to buy the LG Watch Sport from a carrier, AT&T will sell you the LG Watch Sport for $17.50 per month for 20 months on an AT&T installment plan, or $49.99 when purchased with an LG G5 or LG V20. Meanwhile, Verizon will charge $329.99 with a two-year contract or $379.99 full retail.
The LG Watch Style will be available from Best Buy and the Google Store with a starting price of $249.
When it comes to launches outside of the US, Google says that the LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style will be available in Canada, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, UAE and the UK in the coming weeks.
