AT&T customers have been enjoying Voice over LTE (VoLTE) for awhile, and now they’ll be able to use it while visiting Japan, too.
AT&T has partnered with Japanese carrier NTT DOCOMO to offer VoLTE service in Japan. AT&T customers visiting Japan can roam on DOCOMO and use VoLTE, which offers simultaneous web usage and talking as well as clearer audio.
In order to use VoLTE, you’ll need to have a compatible device while calling another AT&T customer with a compatible device. You’ll also need to be in an area that offers VoLTE.
VoLTE is a nice step up from regular voice, with audio improvements that make it easier to understand the person that you’re talking to. With VoLTE support in Japan, AT&T customers won’t have to revert to the lesser voice quality just because they’re traveling overseas.
