Pokémon had a big year with regards to mobile in 2016, with Pokémon Go earning crazy popularity in the months following its launch. Now Pokémon is back in 2017 with another mobile title.
Pokémon Duel is now available on Android and iOS. Pokémon Dual is a bit different than Pokémon Go, with this being billed as a “strategy board game” with Pokémon figures.
The game tasks you with collecting figures, each with different moves and abilities. You’ll then need to make your way to your goal before your opponent gets to theirs. You can fight your opponent in real time, block their path, and so on.
Pokémon Duel offers online play with with other people from around the world. Winning these matches will get you Time Boosters, which contain items like new Pokémon figures. You’ll also be able to buy these Time Boosters using the in-game shop.
Pokémon Duel is a free download, but you can spend real cash to help you buy in-game items.
It’ll be pretty tough for Pokémon Duel to reach the same level of popularity as Pokémon Go, but Duel still looks like a nice game for your phone. Not only does it provide a new dose of Pokémon for those fans that’ve fallen off of Pokémon Go, and the online battles could make Duel interesting for folks that weren’t feeling the gym battles in Go.
