Verizon may be planning to skip Samsung’s update that will disable Galaxy Note 7 phones in the US, but other carriers will be going forward with it.
T-Mobile has confirmed that it will release Samsung’s new Note 7 update. The rollout will begin on December 27, which means anyone still using a Note 7 on T-Mobile now has less than one month left with their device. If that’s you, you can reach out to T-Mo to swap your Note 7 for a different phone.
Here’s T-Mobile’s full statement on the Note 7 update:
“We always want to do the right thing and make sure our customers are safe, so on Dec. 27 we will roll out Samsung’s latest software update, which is designed to stop all remaining Note7 devices from charging. These devices were recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Oct. 13 and should no longer be used. T-Mobile customers who still have a Note7 should immediately power down and stop using the device, and bring it back to a T-Mobile store for a full refund and a replacement device.”
Meanwhile, Sprint has said that it’ll begin pushing Samsung’s update on January 8. This will let Note 7 owners continue to use their phone over the holidays season, and it means that anyone still using a Sprint Note 7 has around one month to get a replacement for their recalled handset.
