Google recently said that it’d begin pushing Android 7.1.1 updates to Nexus and Pixel devices in early December, and now we may have an exact date to look forward to.
Vodafone Australia claims that Android 7.1.1 will begin rolling out on December 5. Technically, Vodafone says that the update will start hitting the Nexus 6P at 5:00 PM in Australia, but given the time differences between Australia and the US, we could see the update arrive in the US on December 5.
The update will include a new December 5, 2016 Android security patch. Thanks to previous developer previews, we know that the update will include other features like support for app shortcuts.
We’ll have to wait until Google actually begins pushing Android 7.1.1 before we officially know when the rollout will be, but a launch next week would make sense. Not only has Google said that the push would start in early December, which next week is, but Vodafone says that next security update is listed as being the December 5 patch, and carriers like Vodafone typically get these updates before their full launch so that they can test them.
