Earlier this week, BlackBerry unveiled their last official smartphone; the BlackBerry DTEK60. While it's only been a few days since the high-end smartphone was introduced to the public, BlackBerry executives have already likened the device with the Google Pixel XL and the iPhone 7 Plus. The DTEK60, however, is considerably cheaper than the two smartphones it is being compared with.
Taking a look at the DTEK60's specs, the comparison looks just about right. The DTEK60 comes with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, which is the same size as the other two devices. While both the DTEK60 and the Pixel XL make use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor (820 for the DTEK60, 821 for the Pixel XL), the iPhone 7 Plus is equipped with a proprietary A10 Fusion chip. Both the BlackBerry smartphone and Pixel XL are powerful with 4GB of RAM running behind the scene.
Memory-wise, the DTEK60 is at par with the iPhone 7 Plus' base model of 32GB onboard storage. The BlackBerry device is available with a microSD card slot so memory may be expanded. Meanwhile, the Pixel XL has 128GB of internal storage. As for the camera, it looks like the DTEK60 is a far better pick than the Pixel XL and iPhone 7 Plus (at least on paper). The two flagship smartphones have a 12-megapixel camera on the back, while the DTEK60 houses a 21-megapixel main sensor.
Again, all these things look good on paper but it still depends on how the actual device fares up against these two devices. But at $499 unlocked and off-contract, the BlackBerry DTEK60 is $200 cheaper than the iPhone 7 Plus and Google Pixel XL. And this just might seal the deal for individuals looking to buy a flagship smartphone like the iPhone 7 Plus or the Pixel XL without the expensive price tag.
