After launching its Unlimited Freedom plan for phones in August, Sprint today unveiled a similar offering for tablets.
Sprint now offers an unlimited data plan for tablets. With it, you can browse and stream as much as you’d like, and there’s also unlimited texting for tablets that support SMS.
As with Sprint’s Unlimited Freedom plan for phones, though, Sprint is optimizing streaming for this unlimited tablet data plan. Video streams will be optimized to 480p+, music streams will be optimized to 500kbps, and game streaming will be capped at 2Mbps.
This unlimited data plan for tablets costs $20 per month with AutoPay, or $25 without AutoPay. For an additional $20 per month per line, Sprint will give you premium resolution streaming that’ll give you video streaming up to 1080p+, music streaming up to 1.5Mbps, and online gaming up to 8Mbps.
Also worth noting is that in order to get the $20 per month price, you’ll need at least one active phone line with Sprint. If you don’t have one, your monthly price will be $50 per month per line.
Sprint will also tack on another $10 per month per line if your tablet was purchased from Sprint at a discount.
There are some caveats to keep in mind when considering Sprint’s unlimited data plan for tablets, but if you’re already a Sprint customer and have a cellular tablet that you’d like to get online, the new plan is worth a look for $20 per month.
