Google recently unveiled several new devices, including the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, Google Wifi router, and Google Home speaker. Rumors have suggested that Google has a couple of smartwatches in the works, too, and now we may know when we’ll see them.
Google’s smartwatches will launch in Q1 2017, according to serial leaker Evan Blass. When they launch, it’s expected that they’ll run Android Wear 2.0, which Google recently pushed into early 2017.
A report from earlier this year spilled some other details on Google’s smartwatches. There will reportedly be two models, with the Angelfish sporting a 43.5mm diameter and the Swordfish measuring 42mm. The Angelfish will have GPS, LTE, and a heart-rate monitor, says the Android Police source, while the Angelfish will lack GPS and LTE. Both devices are expected to have Google Assistant support.
There’s no shortage of Android Wear smartwatches currently on the market, both from mobile companies like Samsung and Motorola as well as traditional watch makers like Nixon and TAG Hauer. Google’s rumored smartwatches will likely be a big deal when they launch, though, because like the new Pixel and Pixel XL, they’ll be the first Android Wear watches from Google.
