Sony doesn’t currently have any phones running Android 7.0 Nougat, but according to a new leak, that could change soon.
According to a slide from a Sony Slovakia presentation, the Xperia X Performance and Xperia XZ will be the first Sony phones to be updated to Nougat. The slide, obtained by Xperia Blog, claims that the updates for both phones will begin rolling out “around October.”
Next up will be the Xperia X and Xperia X Compact, which will reportedly be updated to Android 7.0 starting “around November.” Then it’ll be the Xperia Z5 series, Xperia Z3+, and Xperia Z4 Tablet’s turns to be updated “around December.”
Finally, the Xperia XA and Xperia XA Ultra are expected to get their tastes of Nougat in “early 2017.”
Keep in mind that Sony has confirmed which devices it’ll update to Android 7.0, it hasn’t said when these updates will begin rolling out. The Xperia X Performance and Xperia XZ are Sony’s two current flagship smartphones, so it’d be good for owners of those devices if their Android 7.0 updates do begin in October. That’d be one-and-a-half to two months after Google pushed Nougat to its Nexus devices, which isn’t too long of a wait for a non-Nexus Android device.
