Days after pricing info for Google’s upcoming Chromecast Ultra leaked, images of the device itself have surfaced.
The leaked images show a Chromecast Ultra that doesn’t look too dissimilar from Google’s current Chromecast device. It’s got a round shape with a flat front and rear and an HDMI cable attached to the unit with a short, flat cable. The big different in design is that while the Chromecast (2015) has a Chrome logo, this Chromecast Ultra has a Google “G” logo.
This Chromecast Ultra is expected to ship with firmware version 1.21 and support for playing 4K content. The device will reportedly debut at Google’s October 4 event and it’s expected to cost $69.
The Chromecast (2015) will allegedly stick around at its $35 price point, offering an affordable alternative to the Chromecast Ultra for folks that don’t care about 4K content. For those people that do have a 4K-capable television, though, the Chromecast Ultra could be a nice addition to their home theatre. With it, they’ll have a new way to easily get 4K content onto their TV.
