Samsung expects its new, safe Galaxy Note 7 units to begin rolling out this week, and so it’s now offering up details on how consumers can tell the new Note 7s apart from the old ones.

Samsung will use a green battery icon with the new Galaxy Note 7. This green battery icon will be used in the Note 7’s status bar, on the Always On Display screen, and on the Power Off prompt screen.

This green battery indicator will appear on new Galaxy Note 7 units following a software update.

Additionally, Samsung will mark the packaging of its new Galaxy Note 7 units so that you can identify the phone without even turning it on. The new Note 7s will have a square on its label. You can see an example of this label below.

Finally, you can use Samsung’s dedicated Note 7 Recall webpage to enter your phone’s IMEI and find out if it’s safe.

Samsung says that there have been nearly 100 reports of overheating Galaxy Note 7s in the U.S., including 26 reports of people being burned by their Note 7s. Because of this, it’s important for Samsung to make it easy for consumers to quickly identify the safe Note 7s from the ones that might explode. With these three features, most people shouldn’t have an issue figuring out if their Note 7 is safe.
