Pandora today announced a new subscription option to its music streaming service.
Pandora Plus is a $4.99 ad-free option that’s launching today, Sept. 15, and rolling out to Android and iOS customers in the coming months. Anyone that’s signed up for Pandora One will be transitioned to Pandora Plus during that time.
With Pandora Plus, subscribers will get “more skips, replays, and an ingenious solution for offline listening that elegantly handles issues with lost connectivity and cellular data usage.” This feature will detect when you lose your signal and switch to one of your top stations so that your music will keep playing.
Pandora is improving its free streaming service, too, giving users the ability to skip more songs and replay songs by watching a video ad.
Finally, Pandora CEO Tim Westergren today teased a new Pandora streaming option coming later this year. Pandora will offer a “fully interactive on-demand” service, but no other details were offered. If it’s anything like the premium streaming options offered by Apple, Spotify, and others, this upcoming Pandora on-demand option will be $9.99 per month.
