It’s been a while since we’ve seen Samsung introduce a new Android tablet with an S Pen, but that’s changing today.
The Galaxy Tab A (2016) with S Pen is now official. The big feature here is the S Pen stylus, which offers many of the same features as it does on Samsung’s Galaxy Note smartphones. For example, you can take notes in Samsung’s Notes app and also when the Galaxy A (2016)’s screen is off. You can also translate words on your screen that you highlight with the S Pen.
In terms of raw specs, the Galaxy Tab A (2016) runs Android 6.0 on a 10.1-inch 1920x1080 display. It’s also packing 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, 32GB of storage (24.8GB available to the user), and a microSD slot for adding more storage.
Rounding out the Galaxy Tab A (2016)’s feature set is a 1.6GHz octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 4G LTE connectivity, and a 7,300mAh battery.
Samsung will sell the Galaxy Tab A (2016) for 489,000 Won ($434 USD) in South Korea. Samsung will also offer a book cover for the Tab A (2016) that’ll let you prop the tablet up at different angles. There’s no word on when or if the Galaxy Tab A (2016) with S Pen will be offered in other markets.
Samsung has offered a few different tablets with S Pen styluses in the past, but as I said before, it’s been a while since a new stylus-equipped tablet has come out of the company. The Galaxy Tab A (2016) changes that, and it’s nice to see a new Android tablet coming out to give folks a stylus-equipped alternative to Apple’s iPad Pro and Apple Pencil.
