Nokia has said that its name will appear on new Android smartphones and tablets in the future, but one person has Android running on Nokia hardware right now.
XDA developers forum member banmeifyouwant has gotten Android running on a Nokia Lumia 525. Specifically, they loaded the Lumia 525 is CyanogenMod 13, which is based on Android 6.0.1. The video above shows the Lumia booting into CyanogenMod and running the Android home screen, app drawer, and Settings.
A second video shows the Lumia 525 running AnTuTu Benchmark. You can watch it here.
The work of getting CyanogenMod 13 on the Lumia 525 is still early, so there are issues with touchscreen calibration, Wi-Fi, modem, and more. Still, it’s impressive to see that someone got CyanogenMod 13 running on a Windows Phone device that debuted nearly three years ago.
