Following leaks that claimed to have new info on the iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2, a new report has surfaced that reportedly spills details on Apple’s plans for upcoming iPad devices.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will launch a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro model in 2017. That’s in addition to a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2 and a “low-cost” 9.7-inch iPad. Kuo makes no mention of a new iPad mini, saying only that “three new iPads” are expected, so Apple may not refresh its 7.9-inch tablet next year.
Kuo’s report makes it sound like Apple will switch to a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro model rather than making a new 9.7-inch version of the iPad Pro that’s now available. Apple could still keep the 9.7-inch model around as a cheaper way to get an iOS tablet. Meanwhile, Kuo suggests that the 10.5-inch model would be attractive to the commercial and education markets.
Kuo has also dropped a tidbit about what Apple may have planned for the iPad in 2018. He says that Apple is likely to introduce a “revolutionary iPad model” as early as 2018, suggesting that the device could offer “radical changes in form factor design” as well as an AMOLED display.
