Days after the FCC revealed a label that made it look like the ASUS ZenWatch 3 will have a round display, the Chinese version of the FCC has taken things a step further and spilled images of the device.
TENAA, which is like China’s version of the FCC, recently put up a filing for the ASUS ZenWatch 3 and included images of the device in testing. The images have since been pulled, but not before they could be saved and shared across the internet, which is what typically happens in situations like this.
As expected, the ZenWatch 3 has a round face. Since the screen is off, we can’t determine anything about the display or bezel. We can see that the ZenWatch 3 has a trio of buttons on its side, with the middle button appearing a bit larger than the other two. The back of the ZenWatch 3 appears to be home to a couple of charging contacts.
Round smartwatches seem to be more popular than square ones when it comes to Android Wear, with Huawei, LG, Motorola, Casio, and Fossil all offering round-faced smartwatches. The first two ASUS ZenWatch models had square faces, but it looks like ASUS is hopping on the round face bandwagon with the ZenWatch 3, which will help the device look more like a traditional analog watch.
What do you think of this ASUS ZenWatch 3 so far? Does its round face interest you more than ASUS’s square-faced smartwatches?
