UPDATE: Apple has also released the iOS 10 Public Beta 4 update, so if you're in the Apple Beta Software Program, go into Settings > General > Software Update to grab the update.
iOS 10 today took another step toward its public release.
Apple has unleashed iOS 10 beta 5, giving registered developers a new version of iOS 10 to test. The update is now rolling out over the air and is also available for download through Apple’s Developer Center.
As for what’s new in iOS 10 beta 5, it appears that the iPhone 6 and 6s now work properly with Apple’s Smart Battery Case. Also of note is that Apple will reprocess its facial recognition data in iOS 10 beta 5, so existing face data will be reset.
These beta updates are meant to help Apple iron out bugs in iOS 10 before its public release and to allow developers to test their apps on iOS 10 so that they’re ready for iOS 10 when it’s release to the public.
Apple is also running an iOS 10 Public Beta, and if the past few releases are any indication, those testers could get a new update tomorrow, August 10. iOS 10 will be officially released to the public this fall.
