We’ve seen several features of Google’s 2016 Nexus phones leak out in recent days, and today a few more have surfaced.
Google is reportedly prepping a Night Light feature for its 2016 Nexus phones. When activated, the phone’s screen will be tinted red, which Google says “makes it easier to look at your screen or read in dim light, and may help you fall asleep more easily.
The leaked screenshots show that you’ll have a few ways to activate Night Light. According to the images, you can toggle the feature manually, set a start and end time for it to be on, or have it automatically activate from sunset to sunrise.
Another notable new feature that’s allegedly coming to the new Nexus phones is what Google calls “Quick screen check.” With it, you’ll be able to double-tap your phone’s screen when it’s turned off to activate ambient display mode, giving you a quick peek at the time and your notifications. You can already do this by picking up your phone.
Finally, the leaked screenshots shared today by Android Police show that the Settings app with two tabs at the top of the screen. One is for all of the settings, while the other is for support, which is expected to be the Google Support feature that leaked earlier this year.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai said earlier this year that Google would “hopefully add more features on top of Android on Nexus phones,” and judging by recent leaks, that’s precisely what’s happening with this year’s Nexus phones. While the features shown in today’s leak are ones that we’ve seen on other devices, they’re still some nice usability features that would make for good additions to Google’s Nexus handsets.
