Remember that new Apple TV Remote app that Apple announced at WWDC? Nearly two months after it was announced, it’s officially arrived on the App Store.
The new Apple TV Remote app lets you use your iPhone (running 9.3.2 or later) to control your Apple TV (2nd, 3rd, or 4th generation). You can use it to navigate the Apple TV’s UI with touch gestures, enter text including email addresses and passwords, and ask Siri to search for something.
When the Apple TV is playing content, you can use the Apple TV Remote app to control the movie, TV show, or song that’s playing. The app will also show artwork for whatever is playing. When you’re gaming on the Apple TV, you can use the app to play games using your iPhone's accelerometer and gyroscope, and there’s also a Game Mode that offers simplified game controls.
Overall, this new Apple TV Remote app looks like a solid improvement over the previous app. When the new Apple TV with tvOS launched, many users complained about the difficulty of entering emails and passwords using the physical Apple TV remote, but now typing in that info is a breeze because you can just use your iPhone's virtual keyboard. If you’ve got an iPhone and Apple TV, you should probably grab the new Apple TV Remote app ASAP. You can do just that by hitting up the App Store link below.
