Most phablets that come to market feature displays that are between 5.3 and 5.7 inches in size. There are some outliers that go even bigger, though, and today Huawei’s Honor brand revealed one such device.
The Honor Note 8 is a new Android phablet with a ginormous 6.6-inch 2560x1440 AMOLED display. That makes it larger than most other phones that we’ve seen lately, including Xiaomi’s Mi Max and its 6.44-inch screen. There’s 2.5D glass on the front of the Note 8 as well as an 8-megapixel camera, and around back lives a 13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization and a fingerprint reader.
The Note 8 measures 7.18mm thick, which Honor touts will help you to focus on the content on the large display. Inside that aluminum rear shell lives an octa-core Kirin 955 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32/64/128GB of storage, microSD card support, and a 4500mAh battery. On the software side, it’s got Android 6.0 and Huawei’s custom EMUI 4.1 user interface.
Honor’s Note 8 will launch in China on August 9. Pricing will be set at 2,299 yuan ($346 USD) for the 32GB model, 2,499 yuan ($376 USD) for the 64GB version, and 2,799 yuan ($421 USD) for the capacious 128GB model. Interestingly, Honor says that it’s bringing its 8 series to the U.S., so folks in the States that love gigantic phones will get a crack at the Note 8, too.
While the Honor Note 8 may be too big for some, its 6.6-inch display could be good for folks that watch a lot of video on their phone. The Note 8 could also be a good option for people that want a big screen device for browsing or whatever, but can’t or don’t want to buy both a phone and a tablet.
