After launching the Idol 3 last year, Cricket is once again teaming with Alcatel to offer the Idol 4.
The Alcatel Idol 4 will launch at Cricket on August 5 at a price of $199.99 with activation on a smartphone plan. Cricket’s smartphone plans start at $40 per month for 2.5GB of data, with other options that include $50/5GB, $60/10GB, and $70/unlimited.
If you do decide to purchase the Idol 4 from Cricket, you’ll also get Alcatel’s special packaging that doubles as a virtual reality viewer.
As for the Idol 4 itself, this Android 6.0 smartphone features a 5.2-inch 1920x1080 display, 13-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front cameras, an octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 2610mAh battery. Alcatel is including 16GB of storage, but you can add more with a microSD slot if you’d like. Rounding out the package is a pair of multi-directional speakers.
For the price, the Idol 4 looks like a solid addition to Cricket’s lineup. It’s got upper mid-range specs, a premium glass and metal build, and it includes VR goggles so that you can experience virtual reality right away. If you’re a Cricket customer or have been considering jumping ship, this Idol 4 may be worth a look.
