While mobile OSes like Android and iOS have gotten refresher user interfaces over the years, one thing has remained constant: Instagram’s app icon. That’s changing today, though, as Instagram is rolling out a totally new look.
Instagram has introduced a new design for its Android and iOS apps, complete with a new icon and a refreshed UI. The new app icon ditches the old camera icon for a more modern, colorful icon that shows a more minimal camera. Instagram is also updating its Layout, Hyperlapse, and Boomerang apps with minimal icon designs.
Additionally, Instagram is officially rolling out that black and white user interface that we first got a peek at in April. Like the new app icon, this new app UI is simpler, and Instagram says that the goal with the new look is to “put more focus on your photos and videos without changing how you navigate the app.”
This refreshed Instagram is now rolling out, so keep an eye out for the app update.
