Most of the recent Huawei leaks have been focused on the flagship P9, but today we’re switching things up a bit.
Images and spec details of a smaller Huawei P9 — today’s report refers to it as the “Lite” model, but its official name isn’t yet known — have been shared by VentureBeat. The device looks largely similar to the leaked Huawei P9, but it’s only got one rear camera. Interestingly, this “Lite” model isn’t expected to be any smaller than the regular P9.
As far as specs go, this P9 “Lite” is said to offer a 5.2-inch 1920x1080 display, just like the regular P9. Also said to be included is the same 3GB of RAM and a rear fingerprint reader. However, the P9 “Lite” will reportedly have a lower-end processor than the Kirin 950 that’s expected to be in the flagship P9, and the P9 “Lite” will also allegedly not have a metal body like its P9 sibling.
The Huawei P9 is expected to make its debut on April 6, and today’s report suggests that the P9 “Lite” will, too, along with a P9 “Premium” and P9 “Max.”
If today’s leak turns out to be accurate, the P9 “Lite” looks like it’ll be an affordable version of the flagship P9 rather than a mini version. The good news is that even though it might focus on affordability, the P9 “Lite” might still offer some higher-end specs like a 1080p screen, 3GB of RAM, and a fingerprint reader. We’ll have to wait until April 6 to see just how affordable the P9 “Lite” is, but the good news is that that’s just a couple of weeks away.
