One of the highlight features of the LG G5 is its modular design, which lets you pull off the bottom piece of the phone and attach an add-on, like a camera grip with physical controls or a DAC for improved audio. They’re nifty-looking modules and the design isn’t something we often seen in the smartphone world, but LG has remained quiet how much these add-ons will cost. Today one retailer has given us our first glimpse at the pricing for the G5’s modules.
B&H Photo Video now has a listing for the LG Cam Plus, the camera module for the G5 that includes physical controls for things like shutter and zoom as well as an addition 1200mAh of battery power. B&H is currently asking $69.99 for the Cam Plus, which is up for pre-order right now with no firm ship time.
There doesn’t appear to be any listings for the Hi-Fi Plus DAC on B&H’s site, but there is a page for the LG 3600 VR headset, which you can hook up to a G5 and then use to watch virtual reality content from Google cardboard as well as 360-degree photos and videos capture from the LG 360 Cam. The LG 360 VR headset is priced at $199.99 on B&H’s site, and it too is available for pre-order with no firm ship date.
Seventy dollars for an add-on for your phone may seem a bit pricey, but if you’re at all serious about taking photos with your new LG G5, the LG Cam Plus may be worth the investment. Not only should it improve your photo-taking experience by adding a grip to the phone and physical controls, but it also gives your G5 a healthy battery boost, bumping its total capacity to 4000mAh.
What do you think of this LG Cam Plus price? Would you buy one for $70?
