Typically when we talk about OnePlus and buying a phone, we’re talking about the company’s controversial invite system. That’s not the case today, though, as OnePlus has announced a new way for customers to buy its devices.
OnePlus is now offering installment payments for any purchases of more than $99 from its US store. With installments, you can break up your purchase of a OnePlus 2 or OnePlus X into monthly payments rather than paying hundreds of dollars at once. You’ve also got the option to pay your purchase off at any time.
Customers buying a OnePlus 2 or OnePlus X with installments have a few different options for how many monthly payments they want to break their purchase up into. Pricing for the OnePlus 2 — which is $349.00 full price — starts at 18 monthly payments of $22.60 each, 12 payments of $32.33 each, or 6 monthly payments of $61.60 each. Meanwhile, the OnePlus X — which is $249.00 — can be bought with 18 payments of $16.12 each, 12 payments of $23.06 each, or 6 payments of $43.95 each. All of those rates include an APR of 19.99 percent.
OnePlus says that it’s now offering installments so that customers can easily compare pricing for its devices with those from carriers, adding that with its phones, customers can pay in installments but still have the freedom to jump between carriers. It is good to see OnePlus offering another way for customers to pay for its phones, because not everyone can afford to shell out hundreds of dollars at once. Just keep in mind that if you do opt for an installment plan, you’ll end up paying a bit more than your device’s regular price.
