Nearly one month after Facebook said its Reactions would be rolling out soon, we’re finally going to get access to the new feature.
Facebook Reactions are launching today globally, Facebook has announced, giving users more ways to respond to a post than the Like. In addition to the standard thumbs-up, there are now Love, Haha, Wow, Sad, and Angry reactions. To use them, mobile users will tap and hold on the Like button, while desktop users will hover over the like button. Doing so will bring up a horizontal list of animated Reactions for you to choose from.
There were actually seven Reactions when Facebook began testing the feature last year, but it cut the Yay button because “it was not universally understood.”
With Reactions, Facebook users now have several more ways to respond to a post rather than just the Like. Of course, you could always type out a response, but Reactions give you a much faster way to respond to a post. Folks have long complained that they feel awkward Liking a sad post, and so now they’ll be able to give those posts an appropriate reaction.
