Motorola is no stranger to the smartphone accessories market, having launched battery packs, Bluetooth headsets, and much more in the past. However, this week Moto launched a whole new line of accessories, and it did so under a new brand name.
VerveLife is a new line of accessories made by Motorola that are activity-centric. There are five devices in the first batch: VerveOnes+, VerveCam, VerveLoop+, VerveRider+, and Verve Retrieve. The VerveOnes (shown above) are a pair of “true wireless stereo earbuds” that look a bit like a pair of Moto Hints. Motorola says that they’ll get 12 hours of battery life and include an integrated dual mic for phone calls. Meanwhile, the step-up VerveOnes+ are also IP57 waterproof and come with a sport carrying case and extra ear gels to help you get a perfect fit. The VerveOnes and VerveOnes+ are compatible with Android and iOS with the Connect app.
Moving on down the headphone line is the VerveLoop and VerveLoop+. Like the VerveOnes+, the VerveLoops are wireless earbuds, but these are connected by a wire and include an in-line remote. The VerveLoop is “super light” and “affordable,” offering IPx4 water resistance and six hours of battery life, while the VerveLoop+ has a higher waterproof rating (IPx7) and double the battery life. Both are compatible with Android and iOS.
The final headphones in the VerveLife line are the VerveRiders. These are wireless buds that go around your collar, and the VerveRider offers 12 hours of battery life and an integrated mic for phone calls. Meanwhile, the VerveRider+ is IP57-rated to be waterproof and comes with a sport carry case. As with the VerveLoops, both VerveRiders are compatible with Android and iOS.
Next up is the VerveCam. As its name suggests, the VerveCam is a lifestyle camera that captures 2.5K video at 30fps and has a 138-degree field of view. It also includes Wi-Fi for live streaming to Hubble Cloud and YouTube, and when paired with the VerveCam app, you can edit and share the photos and videos that you take with it. The VerveCam is IP67 rated to be waterproof and can be submerged up to 30 meters. It also includes accessories so that it can be taken on your activities, like bike riding or being clipped to your clothes.
Finally, the VerveRetrieve is an IP67 waterproof pet tracker with GPS. You can track “almost anywhere with cellular data,” and it includes one year of GPS tracking, virtual fence, and wander alert.
Motorola hasn’t announced any pricing or launch details for any of its accessories, with each one’s product page inviting you to share your email and get future updates.
It’s kind of strange to see Motorola launch a new brand of accessories when people already know of the Motorola name. These VerveLife accessories are all activity-focused, though, so perhaps Moto wanted some way to differentiate them from its existing lineup and give them all a more activity-focused brand. It’s expected that the VerveLife devices will be shown at Mobile World Congress next week, so perhaps we’ll learn more then.
