Instagram rolling out two-factor authentication for added account security

After adding multiple account support earlier this month, Instagram is now giving its apps another major feature.

Instagram has confirmed that it’s adding two-factor authentication to its service. The feature is already rolling out, Instagram has told TechCrunch, and it allows users to verify their account using a phone number. This means that if someone tries to get into your account with your username and password, you’ll be texted a confirmation code that’ll then need to be entered to complete the login.

Instagram is a major social network, and it’s a source of income for some users, so it’s good to see two-factor authentication finally added. With the feature, it’s now considerably more difficult for someone to break into your account. It’s actually kind of crazy that it took this long for two-factor authentication to be added to Instagram considering how large it is and that it’s owned by Facebook. But hey, at least it’s finally here.

Two-factor authentication is now rolling out to Instagram users, but these rollouts can occasionally take some time, so don’t fret if it takes a bit to make its way to your Instagram account.
