Rumors have suggested that the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will have water resistant bodies, and now it looks like Samsung itself is teasing that as a feature of its upcoming Android flagships.
Samsung Indonesia has a teaser page for the Galaxy S7 that includes phrases like “Experience privacy at its finest,” “Worry-less discovery,” and “Bring light to the night.” Each is accompanied by a simple image, like a phone shape with water droplets on the “Worry-less discovery” slide. These slides appear to be teasing features of the GS7, like device security, water resistance, and low-light photography.
Additionally, Samsung Indonesia has posted a teaser video for the next Galaxy phone. The video shows a woman training, and at one point she uses her Samsung phone in a rainstorm. While the phone itself doesn’t appear to be the Galaxy S7 edge — the home button appears to be more rounded like the one on the Galaxy S6 edge — the video does seem to be teasing features of “#TheNextGalaxy,” including water resistance that’d let you use your phone in the rain.
Water resistance would be a nice feature for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge to have. While the phones may not be totally waterproof, they could be able to survive some rain and light spills without any issue, meaning that they’d be able withstand accidents that many people have. And considering how expensive flagship smartphones can be these days, I’m sure most folks would appreciate having a smartphone that could stand up to some liquid without being damaged and needing a replacement.
Do you consider water resistance to be an important smartphone feature?
