Last week, there was a bit of a brouhaha surrounding Adblock Fast, an ad blocker for Samsung’s Android browser. The good news is that less than a week after being pulled from the Play Store, Adblock Fast is back.
Rocketship Apps, developer of Adblock Fast, today announced that Google has reinstated the ad blocker into the Play Store. Rocketship appealed Google’s decision to pull the app and Google accepted that appeal, and as of this morning the Adblock Fast is once again available for download. It’s even been updated to version 1.1.0, which includes support for Android 4.0.
When Google pulled Adblock Fast, it said that the app violated section 4.4 of Google’s Developer Distribution Agreement, which says that an app cannot interfere with third-party apps and services. However, Adblock Fast is using Samsung’s official API, and there were other ad blockers for Samsung’s browser still on the Play Store when Adblock Fast was pulled. The good news is that at least Google agreed to Rocketship’s appeal and reinstated Adblock Fast shortly after its was pulled.
