Google today announced improved search functionality for Inbox, its other email app.
The first new feature are quick answer cards. Now when you’re searching for a piece of information, like an address, phone number, flight, event, bill, or package, Inbox will surface that info with a card at the top of the search results. Just search for something like “twc bill” or “chromecast order” and you’ll get a quick result card. In many instances, you’ll also get a link to view more info, like your full bill or package tracking info.
Additionally, Inbox will now show you a “Top results” section in your searches that’ll order emails by relevance. Google says that “you won’t have to look here often,” but if you want to wade into your email pool yourself to view some piece of info, this feature should help.
While many folks may think of Gmail when they think “Google email,” it Google is still invested in Inbox. The app is still getting notable new features, like today’s quick answer cards and a recent trip sharing update. That’s great news for folks that prefer Inbox to regular Gmail.
Google doesn’t say when these new Inbox features will begin rolling out to users, but now that they’re official, I wouldn’t be surprised if they start hitting devices in the coming days.
