If you’ve got a Windows Phone 8.1 device and are waiting for your Windows 10 Mobile update to arrive this month, well, I’ve got some bad news for you.
Microsoft said today that Windows 10 Mobile updates for "select" Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices are now slated to begin rolling out “early next year.” The updates were previously expected to start arriving in December, but now it looks like anyone rocking a Windows Phone 8 or 8.1 device will have to wait a bit longer for the W10M update.
Windows 10 Mobile has been available to Windows Insider program users since February. While the software was rather buggy at first, it seems to be pretty stable as of late, and so anyone with a Windows Phone 8 or 8.1 device may want to consider signing up for the Windows Insider program. This will let you get W10M on your phone right now and see what the new software is all about. To get started, visit the Windows Insider website.
