Google today began pushing Android 6.0.1 to its Nexus devices, and so many owners of non-Nexus Android hardware are probably wondering when they’ll get the update. If you’ve got an HTC One A9, I’ve got some news for you.
HTC’s Mo Versi says that the HTC One A9’s Android 6.0.1 update — complete with new emoji — is on track to be released this month. HTC previously promised that the unlocked One A9 would get Android OS updates within 15 days of Nexus devices, so this news isn’t exactly surprising, but it’s still good to get confirmation from HTC.
Lots of questions on this, so quick update: M9 unlocked Marshmallow OS update and A9 6.0.1 (with updated emoji) is on target for this month.

Verdi also says that the Android Marshmallow update for the unlocked One M9 is expected to arrive in December.
HTC began updating the unlocked One M8 to Android 6.0 Marshmallow earlier this month, so it’s good to hear that the One M9 will follow shortly, and I’m sure that owners of the One M9 feel the same way. As for the One A9, HTC committed to pushing Android OS updates to that unlocked model quickly, so it’s important for the company to stick to that promise. So far, it looks like that’s exactly what’s happening.
