After launching its On-Guard warranty program in Europe earlier this month, OnePlus has extended the service to North America.
OnePlus On-Guard is available in Canada and the US starting today, November 19. OnePlus is teaming up with Assurant on the North American flavor of On-Guard, offering protection on the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X. With On-Guard, there are two types of protection available: Extended Service Coverage (ESC), which offers replacement coverage for hardware failures due to manufacturer defects, and Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH), which provides coverage for accidental damage like drops, liquid spills and cracks.
The pricing for the North American flavor of On-Guard looks like this:

In North America, you’ll only be able to buy On-Guard when you checkout with your new device. That differs from Europe, where you can buy On-Guard within 15 days of your device purchase. That’s kind of a bummer for North American OnePlus customers, and it means that if you’re thinking about declining On-Guard for your new OnePlus phone in North America, you’d better be extra sure of that decision when you’re checking out.
It’s worth noting that today is also the day that OnePlus is launching the OnePlus X in North America. As with past OnePlus device launches, though, you’ll need an invite to buy a OnePlus X.
