BlackBerry began taking pre-orders for the Priv in late October, and at the time, it said that orders would begin shipping on November 6. Even if you got your order in early, though, you may be waiting a bit longer for your Priv than previously anticipated.
BlackBerry is sending emails out to Priv pre-order customers to let them know that some orders are going to be delayed. The delay is being caused by high demand, says BlackBerry, but it wants you to know that it’s working hard to get all pre-orders delivered in a timely fashion. BlackBerry expects all remaining Priv pre-orders to be delivered no later than November 24.
Early reviews for the BlackBerry Priv seem to be mixed, but according to BlackBerry, the company’s first Android-powered smartphone is a hit with consumers. That could be due to a combination of factors, like the fact that this is the first Android phone with a physical keyboard in quite some time, and some folks whose interest has been piqued by an Android phone from BlackBerry. Now we just have to wait and see if this heavy interest in the Priv is enough to keep BlackBerry in the hardware business.
