Samsung has revealed its newest Exynos mobile processor, the Exynos 8 Octa 8890. The chipset is build using a 14nm FinFET process and includes eight cores, four custom from Samsung and four ARM Cortex-A53. According to Samsung, this setup enables the Exynos 8 Octa 8890 to offer 30 percent better performance and 10 percent improved power efficiency over the Exynos 7 Octa 7420.

The Exynos 8 Octa 8890 also packs an integrated LTE Cat.12/13 modem that’s capable of max download speeds of 600Mbps and max upload speeds of 150Mbps with carrier aggregation. 

Also included in Samsung’s new Exynos 8 Octa 8890 is ARM’s Mali-T880 GPU.

Samsung expects to began mass production of its new Exynos 8 Octa chipset in late 2015. Considering that we’re already in the middle of November, that means that production is probably going to kick off soon. Expect this Exynos 8 Octa to make its way into high-end smartphones and tablets in the coming year. With the new chip, Samsung could opt to go Exynos again in its flagship Galaxy smartphones like it did in 2015 rather than using the Snapdragon 820, Qualcomm's new flagship mobile processor.
