Back in May, Microsoft confirmed that Cortana would be coming to both Android and iOS. And after launching its personal assistant on Android a couple of months ago, Microsoft is ready to start testing the iOS version of Cortana.
Microsoft has announced that its ready to begin testing Cortana for iOS with its Windows Insider program. The beta test will be available to a limited number of people, and if you want to be a part of that group, you’ll need to fill out a short survey with questions about which iOS device you have, how often you use Cortana on Windows 10, and more.
Microsoft notes that because Cortana can’t be as deeply integrated in iOS as she is in Windows, some features won’t be available on iOS, at least not yet. For example, the iOS app won’t support using the phrase “Hey Cortana” to wake the assistant up.
iOS already has a couple of digital assistants — Apple’s Siri and the Google Search app — but that doesn’t mean that Cortana can’t be on the platform, too. There are probably some Windows 10 users out there that also use iOS, and with Cortana on iOS, those folks will be able to get at least part of the Cortana experience that they’re used to seeing on their PC on their phone, too.
