SwiftKey is often cited as one of the best third-party Android keyboards available, and today the company is launching a major new version of its app that includes a few big features.
SwiftKey 6.0 for Android is now available in public beta. The first major new feature included in the update is Double-Word Prediction, which is exactly what it sounds. With this feature, SwiftKey will attempt to predict the next two words that you want to type and save you more time in the process. Double-Word Prediction appears just like single words in the prediction bar, and it’s available in every language that SwiftKey supports.
SwiftKey 6.0 also includes a refreshed emoji picket that’s said to be faster to load and easier to use. Included is a ribbon across the top of the emoji panel that’ll display the characters that you’ve recently used.
Third up is a “massive overhaul” to SwiftKey’s settings menu that includes clearly labeled sections for features like Languages, Themes, Typing Style, and SwiftKey Account.
Finally, SwiftKey 6.0 offers a new theme called Carbon Light that matches the SwiftKey Hub and new emoji panel. It’s got a light background and dark text.
Overall this looks like a solid update to SwiftKey. The Double-Word Prediction is perhaps the most notable addition, and it’ll be interesting to see how well the app can correctly predict two words at once.
