Earlier this year, Samsung announced Samsung Pay and said that the mobile payment service would be supported by AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and US Cellular. Verizon said that it was “evaluating” the service, and after several months of “evaluating,” Verizon has finally made a decision on Samsung Pay.
Verizon says that it will support Samsung Pay on the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+, and Galaxy Note 5. The feature will be enabled on all four phones through software updates. Exactly when those updates will arrive, though, is still a mystery.
Samsung Pay will be supported on compatible Verizon smartphones (Galaxy S 6, S 6 edge, Note5, S6 edge +) through a future software update.

Considering that Verizon already supports Apple Pay and Android Pay, and that every other major carrier supports Samsung Pay, it’s not terribly shocking to see Verizon announce that it’ll support Samsung Pay, too. It’s kind of crazy that it took the big red carrier this long to announce support for the service, but at least Verizon customers finally know that they’ll be able to use Samsung Pay. Now they just have to wait for updates to enable the feature. Here’s to hoping that those updates don’t take as long to arrive as Verizon took to announce support for Samsung Pay.
