ASUS ZenWatch 2 now available in the US for $149.99

We’ve seen a lot of new Android Wear smartwatches debut lately, including the new Moto 360, Huawei Watch, and LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition. Now folks in the US can buy ASUS’s latest Android Wear effort.

The ASUS ZenWatch 2 is now available from the US Google Store. Pricing is set at $149.99, which will get you a either a silver 45mm watch with a Light Aqua band or a gunmetal 49mm watch with a Navy Blue band. As a refresher, here’s the ZenWatch 2’s spec list:

  • 49mm: 1.6-inch 320x320 AMOLED display, 45mm: 1.45-inch 280x280 AMOLED screen
  • Snapdragon 400 processor
  • 4GB of storage
  • 512MB of RAM
  • Single microphone
  • IP67 rated for dust and water resistance
  • 49mm: 22mm changeable quick-release band, 45mm: changeable 18mm quick-release band
  • 49mm: 400mAh battery, 45mm: 300mAh battery
  • 49mm: 49.6 x 40.7 x 9.5mm, 45mm: 45.2 x 37.2 x 10.5mm

The big draw of the ZenWatch 2 is its price, which is a good bit lower than the competition. For example, the new Moto 360 is $299, the LG Watch Urbane is $349, and the Huawei Watch is $399. In order to achieve that price point, ASUS has eschewed features like an ambient light sensor and heart rate monitor. But if you’re in the hunt for a new, low-cost smartwatch and don’t mind a square watch face (with a decent bit of bezel), ASUS’s ZenWatch 2 could be worth a look.
