Alongside the LG V10, the folks at LG today introduced a new version of the LG Watch Urbane with cellular connectivity built-in.
The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition includes 4G LTE and 3G connectivity, letting you do things like make calls without have a phone paired to the watch. It’s the first Android Wear smartwatch to boast that feature.
Cellular connectivity isn’t the only difference between the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition and the standard LG Watch Urbane. The Watch Urbane 2nd Edition also has a larger 1.38-inch 420x420 P-OLED display, larger 570mAh battery, and 768MB of RAM. To compare, the LG Watch Urbane’s got a 1.3-inch 320x320 P-OLED screen, 350mAh battery, and 512MB of RAM.
Besides the larger screen, added RAM, and larger battery the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition’s also got 4GB of storage, a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. All of those features are wrapped in a stainless steel body that’s 14.2mm thick and is IP67 rated for dust and water resistance.
The Watch Urbane 2nd Edition also has three buttons on its side that offer shortcuts to contacts, apps, and the LG Health app. You can also press the crown button for toggle ambient mode.
LG says that the Watch Urbane 2nd Edition will launch first in the US and Korea, followed by releases in Europe, CIS, Asia, and the Middle East. However, LG’s not saying exactly when the Watch Urbane 2nd Edition will launch or how much it’ll cost when it does. Given the $350 starting price of the regular Watch Urbane and the 2nd Edition’s beefier specs, don’t be surprised if the Watch Urbane 2nd Edition carries a premium price tag.
