We’ve long known BlackBerry’s upcoming Android slider as the BlackBerry Venice, but that’s just a codename. Thanks to a new leak, we’ve got the name that the Venice will go by at launch.
Evan Blass reports that the BlackBerry Venice will be known as the “BlackBerry Priv” when it’s released to the public. Blass also shared a new image of the Priv that shows the phone with its screen extended and its keyboard exposed.

BlackBerry Priv certainly sounds like a strange name, but it seems likely that it’s a reference to “privacy,” which BlackBerry is all about. The company often touts how secure its software is, and regardless of what the reality is, some folks still think of Android as being an insecure OS. With the name “Priv,” BlackBerry will likely try to point out how secure its version of Android is.
