After a slight delay, Apple’s watchOS 2 update is now available for download.
watchOS 2 is the newest version of the software powering the Apple Watch. It was originally slated to launch last week alongside iOS 9, but Apple ended up delaying the rollout of watchOS 2 so that it could fix an unspecified bug. Less than one week later, the update is available to download by going into the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and then selecting General > Software Update.
In order to install the update, you’ll need to have your Apple Watch charged up to at least 50 percent of its battery capacity. The Watch will also need to be connected to a charger in order for the update to install.
watchOS 2 is the biggest update for the Apple Watch yet, bringing several new features with it. For example, you can now use your own photos for a watch face, and third-party apps can now have complications on your watch face for at-a-glance data. There’s also Time Travel, which lets you spin the digital crown forward or backward to view past or future events, native apps that’ll lead to better performance, and Nightstand mode, which will show the display, date, and your alarms in large text.
