Android 6.0 Marshmallow supports systemwide translation with Google Translate update

Android 6.0 Marshmallow includes a lot of new features, including native fingerprint reader support, native USB Type-C support, Doze power saving, and more. And now it looks like it’s going to get another big feature thanks to Google Translate.

The latest update to Google Translate, which brings it to version 4.3, includes support for systemwide translation in Android 6.0. The updated app utilizes Marshmallow’s contextual selection feature to enable the ability to translate any word that you select after you highlight it.

Considering that Android 6.0 is currently still in the Developer Preview phase, it’s likely that most of us won’t be able to take advantage of this translation feature right now. Marshmallow is expected to roll out in the fall, though, so it’s not too far off. And now that we’re aware of the feature, we can add it to the list of goodies that are coming with the Android 6.0 update.
