T-Mobile CEO John Legere is mad as heck about data thieves, and he’s not going to take it anymore.

Legere has penned a blog post explaining that a small batch of “thieves” are abusing T-Mobile’s unlimited 4G LTE data plan. This plan includes 7GB of mobile hotspot data, but Legere says that T-Mo has detected that around 3,000 of its customers are using workarounds to consume much, much more tethering data. Some customers are gobbling up as much as 2 terabytes (2048 gigabytes) of data each month.

This kind of usage can harm the network experience for other, less data hungry T-Mobile users, and so Legere is going to put a stop to it. He says that T-Mobile is going to start contacting these heavy users individually and informing them that they’re violating T-Mobile’s terms and conditions. The hope is that they’ll stop using so much data, but if they don’t, T-Mo will automatically move them to an entry-level plan with a limited amount of data.

Two terabytes is a lot of data to be used in one month, and I’d be interested to know what exactly these T-Mobile customers are doing with all of that data. Whatever it is, you can bet that it’s not just checking Facebook and Twitter.
