Another day, another OnePlus 2 feature revealed.
The OnePlus 2 will include a fingerprint sensor, OnePlus confirmed today. The company says that the OnePlus 2’s fingerprint sensor is “refined and lightning quick,” allowing you to unlock your phone faster than TouchID on Apple’s iOS hardware.
Fingerprint sensors on smartphones are nothing new, but we’ve seen them explode in popularity lately thanks to devices like the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy S5, and Galaxy S6. It’s going to get even bigger with future Android devices because Google is adding native fingerprint support with Android M.
It’s no surprise to learn that a fingerprint sensor is coming to the OnePlus 2. What will be interesting is seeing exactly how well it works, because a good fingerprint sensor can save you a lot of time, but a bad one can be frustrating and cause you to quickly turn the feature off and forget about it completely. OnePlus promises that the OnePlus 2’s sensor is “one of the latest and most advanced fingerprint sensors out there,” so I’m looking forward to giving it a try.
